Tafraoute – Accomodations

The town has just five hotels, so it’s wise to arrive early or book ahead to be sure of a room. The campsite, Camping Etoile du Sud, is ten minutes’ walk from the center 066 09 84 03. A small, secure enclosure, with hot showers. It also has three rather musty rooms for rent.

Hotelles Amandiers on the hill above the town – ten minutes walk 048 80 00 08, www.hotellesamandiers.ma. Kasbah-style building offering comfortable rooms with a choice of shower or bath, a dull restaurant (cheaper for residents), but great views from the terrace, and the town’s only swimming pool and bar. Breakfast included.

Hotel Redouane by the bridge 048 80 00 66. A bit seedy with basic and not very clean rooms at erratic prices.  Has a terrace restaurant on the first floor.

Tafraoute Hotels

Hotel Salama across the river from the Redouane 048 80 00 26, 048 80 04 48. A good-value hotel with comfortable rooms, en-suite bathrooms, a roof terrace and a restaurant, plus solar-powered hot water.

Hotel Tafraout Place Moulay Rachid, by the petrol station 048 80 00 60. Much better than the Redouane and Tanger, with clean and pleasant rooms, a warm welcome, hot showers and very helpful staff.

Hotel Tanger across the road from the Redouane 048 80 00 33. Slightly better rooms than its competitor over the road, and cheaper for singles, with friendly staff and quite a good restaurant where you can eat outside.
