Hotel Aday – 111, derb Sidi-Bouloukate, Marrakesh – Morocco. Tel. +212 524 441 920. A small, well-kept cheap hotel, pleasantly decorated in traditional style; something of an overflow for the nearby Medina and Essaouira, but actually a pretty good alternative to both of them.
Hotel Afriquia – 45 Derb Sidi Bouloukat, Marrakesh – Morocco. Tel +212 524 442 403. Decent rooms off a pleasant courtyard with orange trees. Reasonably well maintained, with one en-suite room and shared facilities for the rest. A good choice for a Cheap Hotels in Marrakesh.
Hotel Ali – Rue Moulay Ismail, Marrakesh – Morocco. Tel +212 524 444 979. A popular hotel with en suite rooms (heated in winter, cool in summer), and dorm beds. Breakfast is included in the price, and there’s a great-value restaurant with all you-can-eat buffet suppers, served on the rooftop terrace in summer. The hotel is used as an assembly point for various groups heading to the High Atlas, so it’s a good source of trekking; it also changes money, rents bicycles, has a cybercafe and expedition provisions shop, and can arrange car, minibus or 4×4 rental. Consequently, at times it has the air of a transport terminal. Booking ahead is advisable, but so is checking your room before taking it.
Hotel el Amal - 93, derb Sidi-Bouloukate, Marrakesh – Morocco. Tel. +212 524 445 043. Converted house down a backstreet with 26 rooms on two floors. Clean, modern facilities, and free hot showers, though not en suite.
Hotel Central Palace – 59 Derb Sidi Bouloukat Tel +212 524 440 235. A small place with sparkling rooms around a central patio, and others in a nearby annexe.
Hotel CTM - Place Djemaa el Fna Tel +212 524 442 325. Rooms are a decent size and clean but drab, and there’s no hot water, though some rooms have en suite showers. The hotel is above the old bus station, now used as a car park, and handy if you’re driving. Breakfast is served on the roof terrace, which overlooks the square.
Hotel Essaouira - 3 Derb Sidi Bouloukat Tel +212 524 443 805. One of the most popular cheap hotels in Marrakesh – and with good reason. It’s a well-run, safe place, with thirty rooms, hot showers, a laundry service, baggage deposit and rooftop cafe.
Hotel de France - 197 Rue Riad Zitoun el Kadim Tel +212 524 443 067. Not to be confused with the dire Hotel du Cafe de France on the Djemaa el Fna, this is one of the oldest cheapest, and still a reasonable fall-back, with decent if slightly dingy rooms.
Hotel la Gazelle - 12 Rue Bani Marine Tel +212 524 441 112. Well-kept hotel on a street with foodstalls and small grill cafes, with rooms around a covered patio – windows of downstairs rooms open onto the patio, those upstairs open to the outside. Hot showers are free and there’s a discount on the room price after three nights.
Hotel Ichbilia - 1 Rue Bani Marine Tel +212 524 390 486. Near the Mabrouk cinema, and well placed for shops, banks and cafes, with comfortable rooms off a covered gallery, but separate toilet and showers, and not everybody will apppreciate the lilac decor. Don’t be confused if locals refer to it as Hotel Sevilla; Ichbilia is the Arabic for Seville.
Hotel al Jazira – 148 Rue Lagza Arset Ihiri Tel +212 524 380 448. Gleaming new, with en-suite bathrooms and lashings of hot water, but mainly of note for its proximity to the gare routiere, making it very handy for late arrivals or early departures.
Hotel Medina – 1 Derb Sidi Bouloukat Tel +212 524 442 997. Clean, friendly and pretty good value, with an English-speaking proprietor and breakfast on the roof terrace. In summer there’s also the option of a cheaper bed on the roof.
Hotel Smara – 77 Derb Sidi Bouloukat Tel +212 524 445 568. A quiet place with small rooms, basic but decent, around a patio with an orange tree upstairs rooms are best. Prices are per person, which makes this a cheap option for singles.
Hotel Souria – 17 Rue de la Recette, Marrakesh – Morocco. Tel +212 524 427 545. We get consistently good reports for this deservedly popular, family run hotel, well kept and very homely, though the rooms are small. But a good choice if you are looking for Cheap Hotels in Marrakech.
